M2M Communication Enhances Facilities Professionals' Ability to Manage

When devices and systems, including smart equipment, communicate with each other and automatically make adjustments, the result is known as "machine-to-machine" (M2M) communication, an intelligent network that holds significant potential for facility management. M2M technology is an important reason the Internet of Things (IoT) is making connected buildings more intelligent, safe and sustainable. 

Many M2M communications occur now. For instance, when many commercial smoke detectors sense smoke, they automatically communicate with the fire alarm system, which can sound and let the occupants know to evacuate.
