Johnson Controls delivers essential support service and personnel during COVID-19

AUCKLAND (March 31, 2020) — As the COVID-19 pandemic escalates in New Zealand, Johnson Controls personnel continue to work on the frontline supporting services that are critical to public health, safety and well-being. 

Globally, Johnson Controls has been providing support services since the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, and the team continues to service mission critical facilities worldwide including New Zealand. 

Within its product offerings, Johnson Controls has categories viewed as critical to building infrastructure, like HVAC products, which are crucial to providing proper ventilation in buildings to improve air quality and prevent spreading of the disease, as well as industrial refrigeration for food and beverage processing and security to factories and other essential businesses that remain open.

Johnson Controls offices and branches across New Zealand remain open and operational (although with fewer staff on site), and with increased sanitation practices in place.

Johnson Controls continues to support essential services critical building infrastructure by providing products, solutions and services as permitted by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) in:

  • Security – Security systems are even more critical now to ensure essential facilities are safe and secure.  Security cameras, access control and other security systems are vital to protect people, infrastructure and inventory. 
  • Fire – Fire systems and services must be maintained to keep people and property safe, from fire detection products to sprinkler systems.
  • HVAC – Properly ventilated buildings are critical to improve air quality and prevent the spread of disease and secondary infection.  The World Health Organisation has issued guidance that underscores this point. It is essential to maintain these systems and keep them in service where people continue to live and work. 
  • Industrial refrigeration – Essential in many industries from food and beverage processing to the petrochemical industries, both recognised as critical infrastructure sectors.
