A road and traffic maintenance reporting solution created by Johnson Controls is transforming the way in which road authorities and contracted service administrators manage asset maintenance and reporting requirements.

Johnson Controls Electronic Maintenance & Records Management System (eMRMS)

Maintaining road and traffic networks is a complex process that requires routine maintenance to be meticulously documented. Up until recently, this had been a labour-intensive process involving numerous forms, spreadsheets and paper-based worksheets being manually completed by hand. However there’s now a faster, more efficient and accurate method available to streamline the reporting process.

The Johnson Controls Electronic Maintenance & Records Management System (eMRMS) is a smart, cloud-based solution that features a unique dashboard interface with the capability to communicate simultaneously with multiple traffic systems and sources, including SCATS and Meridian ITS systems. The mobile-enabled platform centralises a range of vital maintenance processes to a single point of entry.

The eMRMS solution includes the integration of alarms into a central calendar, enables mobile delivery of custom forms, and allows for tailored reporting as required. Unique dashboard features have also been designed to benefit both the asset manager and end user, for instance a weather chart monitors and indicates the possible impact of extreme weather conditions on road and traffic networks.

An effective workflow tool, eMRMS automatically assigns requests to technicians who are able to capture service information online and complete specific job forms. Progress is monitored directly from the technician’s location, with the dashboard providing instant visibility including job updates as soon as a project is completed.

Detailed monthly reports are also accessible from eMRMS with features that show progress against key performance indicators. Certain KPIs, particularly those that may impact road safety, require guided manual entry to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Johnson Controls drew on extensive, global experience in traffic technologies to develop the eMRMS system for its customers, replacing paper and spreadsheet-based processes which can now be accessed instantly online, providing an enhanced customer experience. Data can also be accessed within minutes, saving road authorities significant time and resources.
